CYIR/NCYI Announce Shalosh Regalim Campaign for Gush Katif Evacuee Families

CYIR: Council of Young Israel of Rabbis in Israel and NCYI: National Council of Young Israel unveiled plans this week for the establishment of an international Shalosh Regalim Campaign in order to help the families of Gush Katif enjoy the Yom Tov of Shavuot, and to enable them to have the same sense of Simchat Yom Tov that other Jews are able to experience.

People are urged to join CYIR and NCYI in sponsoring a family for Shabbat Parashat Naso and Shavuot, the long holiday weekend. "Over 1,000 families need our help, at a cost of between $180 and $250 per family" said Rabbi Pesach Lerner, Executive Vice President of National Council of Young Israel. "The more we can give them for the 'weekend,'” observed Rabbi Lerner, "the more they will have as “leftovers” and other meals for the rest of the week."
